Medical student education is an important part of our mission at Austin Medical Education Family Medicine Residency Program. Students have the opportunity to work closely with faculty and residents in the ambulatory and inpatient settings.
Third year medical students from, the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, rotate through the Blackstock Family Health Center for an ambulatory primary care experience. Students are given the opportunity to be the first to evaluate patients and develop appropriate evaluation and treatment plans with the attending and resident physicians.
Fourth year elective rotations give students the opportunity for flexibility. Prescribed electives are available. Students are also encouraged to craft an experience that meets their needs. This may include experiences in ambulatory medicine, sports medicine, obstetrics, HIV medicine, and inpatient medicine. All of these experiences are supervised by the Family Medicine faculty.
I invite you to explore our web site to learn more about student opportunities and encourage you to contact us with any questions.
